Andrew Tate, a social media provocateur and former kickboxer, was taken into custody on charges of human trafficking, rape, and organizing a criminal organization on Thursday, according to Reuters.

Tate and his brother Tristan were both taken into custody. Tate had already been barred from using multiple social media sites due to hate speech.

According to reports, the two will be held for 24 hours with other suspects.

According to Reuters, local officials have been looking into the Tate brothers since April.

Along with his brother Tristan, Andrew Tate was detained in Romania.

Tate, a contentious online personality, is currently facing legal issues. The 36-year-old guy and his brother were taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in human trafficking. On Twitter, SPORTbible shared a video of the arrest with the caption.

Tate began training in martial arts, including boxing, to support himself in 2005. He also worked in T.V. advertising. 

The International Sport Kickboxing Association recognized him as the seventh-best light-heavyweight kickboxer in Britain in November 2008. (ISKA). 

When he won the British ISKA Full Contact Cruiserweight Championship in Derby in 2009, he won his first championship and rose to the top of his European division.

Tate lost to Jean-Luc Benoit by decision the first time around, then in their rematch in 2011, Tate defeated Benoit by knockout to win his first ISKA world title. Franci Graj defeated Tate in the Enfusion championship match in 2012.

Before his loss, he was the second-best light-heavyweight kickboxer in the world. Tate won his second ISKA world championship in 2013 by defeating Vincent Petitjean in a 12-round match.

As a guest on the British television program Big Brother in 2016, Tate came under fire for his homophobic and racist remarks.

After just six days, he was released from the show after a camera allegedly captured him striking a woman with a belt. Tate and the woman said they were friends and had consented to the actions seen on camera.
