One Twitter user @OSUBucks89 asked, “Is anyone going to call out the fact that Xana Kernodle’s mother, Cara, was arrested on November 19 on drug charges and is being held on 50k bond?” The user also attached a screenshot of the Kootenai County Jail’s most recent inmate list. 

They continued, “That’s a pretty strong bond and happened so quickly after Xana and the roommates’ deaths as to be irrelevant.”

Cara Kernodle, Xana Kernodle’s mother, was arrested on November 19 and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

In the Kootenai County Jail in Idaho, where she was being detained on drug-related charges, Cara Denise Kernodle was listed as a suspect.

One user on Twitter revealed that there is a history of accusations going back a long time. She used a different name on social media, and it was verified that this was her mother after seeing a post with her two daughters, one of whom was obviously X. 

The user added, “Not sure if there is a connection; it’s just another depressing level.”

The discussion piqued the interest of baseball writer Stacie Wheeler, who added a link to a 2013 warrant listing “Kernodle, Cara Denise” from Rathdrum, who was reportedly fined $2,000 for driving without a license.

Xana Kernodle’s Father Speaks About The Tragedy

Even though it’s unclear who Xana Kernodle’s mother is, her Father, Jeff Kernodle, spoke out after the tragedy to praise his brave daughter. 

Speaking to Arizona outlet 3TV/CBS 5, he disclosed that Xana had bruises on her body as proof that she had retaliated against her attacker. 

The broken-hearted Father praised his daughter for being a capable and strong woman. He claimed that she wasn’t overly concerned with the Drama and other things. She never thought about worldly things; she just liked to have fun.

Jeff claimed that nothing about that night seemed out of the ordinary because his daughter spoke to her family frequently. According to reports, on the evening of November 12, Mogen and Goncalves were out at a bar, and Xana and Chapin went to a Party.

What Happened During The University Of Idaho Killings?

On the second and third floors of a Moscow, Idaho, off-campus apartment building, Xana, 20, her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, 20, and friends Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were discovered dead from stab wounds on November 13. 

While the students were dozing off, the killings are thought to have been carried out with a knife in the “Rambo” fashion. According to reports, their housemates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke were also present at the time of the killings but escaped unharmed.

After finding the bodies, they allegedly woke up hours later and dialed 911. Mortensen and Funke are not being treated as suspects in the case, according to Idaho Police.
