Zhou Guanyu Accident – Did He Sustain Any Injuries At Silverstone Crash?

Zhou Guanyu’s horrific accident occurred on the Silverstone Circuit at the 2022 British Grand Prix. While racing on the track, his Alfa Romeo car was sandwiched between George Russell and Pierre Gasly. Russell’s car clipped Zhou’s and flipped it over. Then, the automobile violently slammed against the catch-fencing and barriers before flipping over and skating across the pavement and gravel. Zhou’s car continued to speed across the gravel trap upside down at a high rate of speed, repeatedly slamming the halo into the ground.

The automobile was propelled into the catch-fencing following a collision with the barriers. The race car driver was trapped inside the vehicle, which got stuck between the barricades and the fence. The race cars are quick to catch fire, but thankfully, the sportsman’s Alfa Romeo didn’t, and he was safely rescued from it. Immediately after, he was given an extensive checkup for signs of injury. Talking about his experience, Guanyu shared,

It wasn’t hurting but it was very cold on the left hand side, so I didn’t know if it was blood and I wasn’t feeling any more or something. Source: The Guardian

Fortunately, the Chinese driver only had minor bruises and was ready to go the following day. Nevertheless, the crash was a traumatizing event, and he feels lucky to have survived such an ordeal.

Zhou Guanyu Is All Set For The 2023 Formula One Season

The 2023 Formula One season is here, and F1 racers are more than ready for the competition. Everyone is pumped for the event from newcomers Nyck De Vries, Logan Sargeant, and Oscar Piastri to returning Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Zhou made his F1 debut in the 2021 season with Alpine before signing a contract with Alfa Romeo the following season. He will race in the 2023 season with Alfa Romeo. As already mentioned, F1 racers need sponsors to bear racing expenses. Chinese sponsors back Zhou, and many criticized and questioned his racing ability in his debut year. Some even called him a “pay driver.” However, Zhou’s impressive racing skills and performance have proven them wrong. If not for that, he would not be racing consecutively for three years in a row.

Regarding negative commentaries, Guanyu chooses to ignore them and get motivated by positive and supportive messages.
