Born has worked for the district for 27 years and has been a principal for six of those years, according to a district statement on social media.

After being stopped, she allegedly failed a breathing test and was subsequently charged with DUI.

Lewis Carroll Elementary School’s principal, Jenifer Born, 56, was detained on the DUI allegation on Saturday and released after posting a $500 bond.

As per an arrest report, Born was stopped by an officer at around 7 o’clock after she was observed repeatedly veering over the white line in the bike path near the intersection of Highway 1 in Rockledge and Topsail Drive.

She had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and the officials could scent alcohol on her breath.

She was asked to complete field sobriety exercises, but Born “did not perform to standard,” according to the reports.

Furthermore, Jennifer is currently placed on leave, and it is unknown when she will continue her job title.

Another Brevard County School Principal Was Accused Of DUI The Same Week

Two Brevard County school principals are charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The police officers stated the two were arrested in different incidents over the weekend.

According to deputies, John Harris, the principal of Heritage High School, age 62, was reportedly detained on Friday in Melbourne.

Per the arrest report, an officer saw Harris behind the wheel of a car parked incorrectly at a Wawa gas station and beeping the horn at another driver. According to deputies, the car was on and in motion.

After submitting to a series of field sobriety tests, Harris gave his permission to be arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the report.

He denied a urine and breath test, according to deputies. After being lodged in the Brevard County jail, he was later released on a $500 bail.

Furthermore, the school system issued a statement as soon as the principals were taken into custody.

“Both are employed by BPS and are currently on a break. According to a statement from Brevard Public Schools, the school district will not speak further because this is a personal matter and law enforcement.
