In an interview, the late singer said she was finally filled by God’s holy spirit and gloriously born again. She went on to explain, “I never stopped being a Christian.”

“Being born-again is an assurance that the person is going to make an effort to walk closer to God and bring Him into one’s life and start following His way,” added Summer in the same talk.

Donna further added that “There are times in life when you might reflect and giggle thinking, “I can’t believe I did that,” “How could I have said that,” and “Where’s my head at?”

“My music and I both had a rebellious spirit that would not let me rest. But to project a positive image, I have chosen to remain in the world’s eye. It’s a highly enlightening and helpful place to be. I adore it,” continued Summer.

Donna Summer – whose real name was LaDonna Adrian Gaines – was the third of seven kids of her parents. Her mom was a schoolteacher.

There is some debate regarding the Queen of Disco’s dad’s profession. While some articles claim that her father was a butcher, others reported that he was a butcher.

When Summer was ten, she made her performance debut at church, filling in for a vocalist who had failed to show.

The Heaven Knows singer attended Jeremiah E. Burke High School in her hometown, where she participated in school plays and was regarded as a popular student.

The Boston-born musician moved to New York City just a few weeks before graduating in 1967, joining the blues-rock group Crow. The band decided to disband after a record label declined to sign them because it was only interested in the band’s main singer.

Despite all the obstacles, Donna stayed in New York and continued to work toward her music career.
