Eric’s wife told police that she had made Eric an alcoholic beverage and brought it to him in their bedroom. Later that night, Kouri said she felt her husband and claimed he was too cold to the touch.
Later, an autopsy report revealed that Eric had passed away from an overdose of fentanyl. The medical examiner also claimed that the level of the drug in Eric’s system was approximately five times the lethal dosage.

Eric Richins Wife Arrested And Charged With Murder
Eric Richins wife, Kouri Richins, was arrested on Monday. She was charged with one first-degree felony count of aggravated murder and three second-degree felony counts of possession with a purpose to disperse a controlled substance.
On the night of March 3, Eric and his wife were having a celebration together, and Eric had consumed a shot of alcohol and a THC gummy.
During that night, Kouri went to their kid’s bedroom and joined Eric later and found him cold. She realized Eric was not breathing and called 911.
Eric’s family members told investigators that they suspected Kouri killed him. One of Eric’s sisters also alleged Eric believed Kouri had tried to kill him.
An obituary said that Eric and Kouri had been married for nearly a decade, but their married life wasn’t going well. Reportedly, Eric was planning to file for divorce, but he passed away before any proceedings started.
