This Saturday, July 22, at 10:30 am, Pequot Lakes High School will host a public memorial service and funeral for those who wish to show their support.

After that service, a private graveside service will be held at Nisswa’s Greenwood Cemetery.

Donations to the Soldier’s Six should be made instead of flowers. The city of Fargo has also set up the Leadership Care Fund.

This legally recognized nonprofit organization would raise money and send it straight to the families of Tyler Hawes, Andrew Dotas, and Jake Wallin. The Fargo Police Department or the city will not receive any money.

Officer Jake Wallin Shot To Death

Wallin, only 23 when he passed away, accomplished much in his all-too-short life. He served with the Minnesota National Guard during deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. He was raised in Saint Michael.

Only three months had passed since Wallin started working as a full-time Fargo police officer.

The shooting’s specifics are still unknown. The alleged shooter was killed by police gunfire. The FBI and state officials are looking into the shootings and potential reasons.

To memorialize Wallin, Governor Tim Walz directed that all flags at state facilities fly at half-staff through Saturday evening.

The State of Minnesota expresses its “deepest gratitude” to Sergeant Wallin for his selfless devotion to and sacrifice on behalf of his fellow citizens in North Dakota and Minnesota. Walz said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community.”

Personal Life Details Of Jake Wallin

Wallin was raised in St. Michael, Minnesota, but was born in South Carolina on November 23, 1999. He completed the police enforcement curriculum at Alexandria Technical College, St. Michael High School, and American Military University before graduating.

Jake enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard and completed tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq before relocating to Fargo and joining the local police force. He was shot as he finished his field training.

Jake desired to lead a meaningful life in which his actions had lasting value. According to his official obituary, his brief adult life was devoted to helping others.

He was devoted to and loved his friends, family, fiancée, dog, Thor, and country and community.

His smile made any space cheery. His laughing spread quickly. He relished everything that life had to offer. A life cut short while performing a profession he loved.

Jake is survived by his devoted parents Jeff and Amy (Shuler) Wallin; his cherished brother Brady; his fiancée Winter Malone; his grandparents, John and Carolee Wallin of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota; and grandparents Jerry and Deborah Shuler of Rock Hill, South Carolina; as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of these people reside in Saint Michael.
