The parents are accused of intentionally withholding food from the child, causing dental injuries and disfigurement, while denying him medical attention.

According to court documents and statements from Griffin District Attorney Marie Broder, the 10-year-old boy was intentionally starved and weighed only 36 pounds when rescued.

This weight is comparable to that of an average 4-year-old. The district attorney described the situation as the child being “starved to death” and emphasized the tragic nature of the case.

The severely malnourished child was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention due to his condition, which included malnutrition and a low heart rate.

The child also experienced dental injuries and disfigurement resulting from starvation, with the parents accused of neglecting to provide necessary treatment for these injuries.

Griffin District Attorney Marie Broder, who has extensive experience prosecuting child abuse cases, expressed deep concern and described the case as disturbing and heartbreaking.

Authorities have revealed additional children residing in the Schindley’s home.

Following the incident, these children have been placed under the care and custody of the Department of Family and Children’s Services in the state. Tyler and Krista Schindley now face multiple charges. 

Griffin Boy Parents Arrested For Murder Attempted

The parents of a boy in Griffin, Georgia, have been arrested and charged with attempted murder. The arrest comes in response to a disturbing case of alleged abuse and neglect involving their child.

The parents, Tyler and Krista Schindley, face first-degree Cruelty to children and other expenses.

They are accused of inflicting cruel and excessive physical and mental pain on their child by intentionally depriving them of food for an extended period, resulting in dental injury and disfigurement.

The warrants state that the parents locked the child in their bedroom, leaving them alone for prolonged periods without access to necessities such as lights, food, clothing, or adult interaction.

The child was also denied hot or warm running water, outside views, toilet paper, electronic communication, human interaction, adult supervision, and access to the exit.

These allegations paint a picture of severe neglect and mistreatment endured by the child.

Neighbors like Seigler expressed shock and profound emotional impact upon learning about the case.

Battery charges have been filed against the parents, accusing them of physically contacting the child victim, resulting in injuries.

The specific nature and extent of these injuries have not been disclosed. The battery charges further highlight the physical abuse inflicted upon the child and the neglect and starvation they endured.

Tyler and Krista Schindley are facing multiple charges, including a Criminal attempt to commit a felony, explicitly attempting to commit malice murder and second-degree murder.
