What Did Emmett Till Say and Who Killed Him? Death Cause

What Did Emmett Till Say? Everyone is asking this question as Emmett’s accuser Carolyn Bryant died at the age of 88.

Emmett Till was an African-American boy whose name came into the spotlight following his tragic death on August 28, 1955. At the time of his death, Till was 14 years old.

The young guy was allegedly kidnaped, tortured, and lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of insulting a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in her family’s grocery store.

Due to his death, Emmett also became an icon of the civil rights movement. Emmett reportedly teased Carolyn, which led to his cruel murder at the hands of Bryant’s husband, Roy and his half-brother, J.W. Milam.

It’s been a long time since his death, and Emmett’s name is again in the limelight as the Calcasieu Parish coroner’s office confirmed Carolyn’s death.

What Did Emmett Till Say?

As we know, Emmett Till was brutally murdered after teasing a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in her family’s grocery store. Due to that, everyone has been asking what he exactly said to the lady.

Court documents show that Emmett, who was visiting family for the summer in Money, Mississippi, from Chicago, bought two cents worth of bubble gum from the Carolyn Bryant Grocery store.

After that, Emmett said, “Bye, baby,” over his shoulder to Carolyn as he exited the shop. In an interview with William Bradford Huie published in Look magazine in 1956, Bryant and Milam said they planned to beat Emmett and throw him off an embankment into the river to scare him.

Not only that, but they told Huie that while they were beating Emmett, he called them bastards, declared he was as good as they, and said he had sexual meetings with white ladies. According to the two men, Emmett said,

“You bastards, I’m not afraid of you. I’m as good as you are. I’ve had white women.”
