Deasia Watkins is an American lady whose name came into media prominence when she stabbed her own baby girl Jayniah Watkins to death in 2015.
It is reported that Watkins was a mentally ill woman who was on medication for postpartum psychosis. Her attorneys said in the court that Watkins had been held at Summit Behavioral Healthcare for some years.
According to a family member, Watkins had been acting crazy and talking to demons. Not only that but two months before the killing, Deasia was diagnosed with postpartum psychosis and also hospitalized for three days.

Deasia Watkins murdered her own baby Jayniah Watkins. On March 16, 2015, Police responded to a 911 call and found the beheaded infant on the kitchen counter of an aunt who was temporarily caring for the baby girl.
Authorities stated the child had been stabbed multiple times with a huge chef’s knife. They also reported that Deasia had a broken arm and had placed the knife in the infant’s hand.
Deasia did that so people would assume the child herself did it, not her. According to court documents, Deasia was believed to be a threat to her child and had been acting crazily.
She was talking about devils when a juvenile court judge placed the child in the custody of Hamilton County Job and Family Services.
Jayniah was then placed in the temporary care of an aunt, who was alerted by authorities to keep the mom away from the kid unless social workers were available.

Deasia Watkins was charged with the murder of her own 3-month-old baby girl. After that, Watkins received a sentence of 15 years to life in jail.
She pled guilty to the death of Jayniah and told a Hamilton County judge how much she adored her child. Meanwhile, Deasia had previously pled not guilty by madness to aggravated murder.
The ill mother was ordered to receive mental treatment and was eventually determined competent to stand trial. Furthermore, Deasia will be able to ask for parole in about 13 years.
Now, it can be said that Deasia is spending her time in state prison, as after receiving 15 years of imprisonment, she was sent to the state prison.
