Australian racing driver Oscar Jack Piastri is now a McLaren Formula One competitor.

Piastri, born in Melbourne, Australia, first competed in national-level remote-control car racing before starting his karting career in 2011.

After turning pro and competing in several Australian races and championships in 2014, Piastri joined Ricky Flynn Motorsport in 2015 and started competing in European and other CIK-FIA-sanctioned karting events.

The racing sensation relocated to the United Kingdom to advance his racing career after placing sixth in Bahrain at the 2016 World Championship.

The racing prodigy triumphed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020, the Formula 2 Championship in 2021, and the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup with R-ace GP.

He is the seventh driver to take home the GP3/Formula 3 and GP2/Formula 2 championships in the same year. The celebrity driver is also the sixth to do so in their first GP2/Formula 2 Championship season.

Piastri is regarded as one of the sport’s most promising young drivers due to his performance in lower formulae.

What Happened To Oscar Piastri? – Accident Update 2023

During the highly anticipated Belgian Grand Prix, Australian racing driver Oscar Piastri was entangled in an unfortunate incident with Carlos Sainz, a prominent figure in the Ferrari team.

The incident occurred at Turn 1 during the first lap of the race when Piastri attempted a daring overtake maneuver on the inside of the corner.

Unfortunately, Sainz responded swiftly, closing the gap and leading to a collision that caused damage to both cars.

While Sainz’s Ferrari sustained damage to the right side, the situation was more dire for Piastri as his car suffered severe damage, leaving him with no choice but to make an early exit from the race.

Despite trying to persevere for one more lap with new tires, the extent of the damage was impossible, ultimately leading to his decision to retire on the second lap, prompting the deployment of yellow flags on the track to signal caution to other drivers.

Meanwhile, Piastri’s teammate, the talented Lando Norris, encountered challenges with the car’s setup, wrestling with excessive downforce that impacted his performance.

At that point in the race, Norris held the 14th position, utilizing hard tires to navigate the demanding track conditions.

On the other hand, Carlos Sainz faced his struggles, contending with a 10% reduction in the aerodynamic balance, which significantly impacted his pace, resulting in a drop to the 18th position in the rankings.

As the race unfolded, rumors circulated that the Scuderia team might contemplate retiring Sainz’s car due to the damage incurred in the early collision.

However, at that time, no official confirmation had been issued, and fans and spectators awaited further updates from the team regarding the status of Sainz’s participation in the thrilling Belgian Grand Prix.

Oscar Piastri Illness and Health In 2023

Oscar Piastri does not suffer from any illness as of April 2024.

However, the racing driver made a shocking revelation about his struggle following an illness throughout the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend in May as he battled with a stomach bug.

As a result, Piastri had to survive on four pieces of toast, lost three kg due to a stomach virus, and had absolutely no luck on the track during several exhausting, unsuccessful days in Baku.

However, the driver received great praise from his British team as he persevered in a confined cockpit in an attempt to finish in the top 10 and score points on the Baku street track, only to have his efforts again derailed by bad luck.

“Despite being ill, fighting spirit was displayed the entire weekend.” You two, @OscarPiastri and Doc, should be proud of your work. On their official Twitter page, McLaren made a statement.

But despite finishing 11th, barely outside the points, in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday, Australia’s rookie was nonetheless left being praised for his valiant effort by his McLaren team.

According to all accounts, the crippling bug had the 22-year-old Piastri battling so hard that his manager Mark Webber stated Piastri had lost three kilograms.
